Watching Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke first come across each other in 1995’s Before Sunrise, rekindle their relationship in Before Sunset and now continue their story in the new cinematic release Before Midnight, had us cherishing two things: great encounters and great places!

So, the movies of our latest collection combine both - in an exhilarating Woody Allen comedy, in a liberating Sofia Coppola drama, in a dynamic ode to Paris…

In celebration of Johnny Depp’s big day, we’ve had a look at his filmography - and one thing is for sure: Whatever your taste might ask for, this man has something up his sleeve for you …and so does our new collection including his first role in 1984, an unusual love story and a very colourful adventure!

TWEEK'S THOUGHTS ON ...ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT

When in 2006, the production of critically acclaimed TV show format Arrested Development came to a halt three years and three seasons after its start, some were relieved, some devastated and a couple of really talented and famous actors unemployment …to say the least!

Back in its days, the show’s concept was refreshingly easy: filmed as a cross between a conventional sitcom and a documentary-like reality show, the story of a wealthy American family that lost everything but their hilarious dislike for each other brought in all the right laughs - but apparently and very unfortunately not the right quotes …so it had to go.

Despite the lot of fans and over-all positive feedback from within the industry, its broadcaster Fox could not make anything of it at the time. Sure, AD was a hit all around the world. But money was spent in the wrong ways and promotion done on the wrong ends. So, the channel did what seemed best: take a safe way out, axe all funds and just let it be.

Word on the streets is, that the comedy series was therefore probably never able to reach its full potential, and it’s about time to find out whether this is true or not: Seven years after its cancellation, on-demand streaming provider Netflix has announced the show’s comeback - accompanied with a promise that it now is a better time and the Internet a better place for Arrested Development.

As for the new season that was released in its entirety on Sunday and its storyline, maybe it’s best if you just decide for yourself if AD really is back for good. Some like it, some don’t like it. But in any case, everyone’s talking about it, and we sure can’t wait to watch it!

Yesterday, The Great Gatsby has opened the 66th Cannes Film Festival, so the big discussion about F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic and DiCaprio’s, Maguire’s and Mulligan’s take on it has finally arrived to Europe in full force.

All that curiosity, delight and disapproval has us reminiscing about unforgettable film adaptions before Baz Luhrmann’s - some of which (yes, this one, this one and of course this one!) have made it into our new collection!

CANNES FILM FESTIVAL SPECIAL

From May 15th to May 28th, the 66th annual Cannes Film Festival is going to take place, rewarding the business’ finest with Golden Palms. Opening with a “Great Gatsby” bang on Wednesday, this year’s festival screenings will also include movies like Nicolas Winding Refn’s Only God Forgives, Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring and James Franco’s As I Lay Dying.

We’re counting down the days - with a bunch of favourites from 2011 and 2012!

In der Hauptstadt wird heute Abend der rote Teppich für das Who is Who des Deutschen Films ausgerollt: Moderatorin Mirjam Weichselbraun bittet zur hochkarätigen Preisverleihung in den Friedrichstadt-Palast, wo Streifen wie “Cloud Atlas”, “Oh Boy” und “Hannah Arendt” um die begehrten Trophäen des “Deutschen Filmpreises” gegeneinander antreten.
