After 10 days of glamour, art and sun le festival de Cannes came to an end on sunday. 

This year’s Palm d’Or was once again awarded to Michael Hanke, who also won the golden Palm in 2009 with his film “The white ribbon”.

Christmas sure came early this year for Hollywood in general and Marvel Studios in particular: Having earned a whooping 1.2 billion dollars globally after a three week-ends into its run and breaking all sorts of records along the way, “The Avengers” is set to be one of the biggest hits of the year (let’s see what up-coming competitors “Prometheus” and “The Dark Knight Rises” can do).

As a movie, “The Avengers” is far from perfect. While director Joss Whedon (him of “Buffy” and “Firefly” fame) adds some rather cool dialogue and keeps things going at an entertaining, brisk pace, the middle part slacks off a bit, not every character gets to shine as they should (why include Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye if you don’t know what to do with him?) and the final showdown looks, sounds and feels like it was nicked from last year’s “Transformers - Dark Of The Moon”. That being said, it’s an fun, thrilling ride: You could do much worse when you’re looking for some big-budget blockbuster kicks. And Whedon and Mark Ruffalo allong the way manage to turn Bruce Banner/The Hulk into what may be the pic’s most fascinating character (after Ang Lee’s somewhat botched 2003 “Hulk” starring Eric Bana and the rather grotesque “The Incredible Hulk” with Edward Norton released in 2008). Kudos!

The movie’s success will, no doubt, fuel not only Marvel Studio’s future projects; obviously there will be an “Avengers” sequel after “Thor 2”, “Iron Man 3” and a stand-alone “Hulk” movie. Comic-book (movie) enthusiasts will also sure get creative, too - as you can see here , there are some fine fan-made videos out there that are at least as much fun as that big movie playing at a cinema near you.

Don’t let anyone tell you 2012 is the “50th anniversary of James Bond” - Ian Fleming’s British secret agent first appeared in the novel “Casino Royale” published in 1953 (with a TV version starring Barry Nelson airing in 1954). This year does however mark half a century of “proper” Bond movies and the 50th anniversary of “Dr. No” (which premiered October 5, 1962).

That puts extra pressure on Sam Mendes, whose “Skyfall” will be released later this year. Starring Daniel Craig for the third time as 007 after the all awesome “Casino Royale” (2006) and the rather confusing, somewhat lukewarm “Quantum Of Solace” (2008), “Skyfall” is already causing major excitement among not only Bond enthusiasts, Mendes (“American Beuty”, “Revolutionary Road”) is expected to give the move some arthouse smarts&twists and it sure will be interesting to see whether bad guy Javier Bardem manages to out-creep his Anton Chigurh from “No Country For Old Men”. There have been quite a lot of rumors surrounding the production: Supposedly, “Skyfall” marks not only the end of Craig’s contract playing Bond (which might potentially renewed) but may also see Dame Judi Dench’s stern but supportive 007 boss M leave the series (with Ralph Fiennes taking over).

Well, we’ll have to wait till late October to find out. For now, here’s the impressive, grim teaser trailer for the movie and Daniel Craig looking tough, determined and very manly, just as James Bond should.

Nachdem die neuste Stormbergkreation bereits auf NDR zu später Stund lief und im März den Grimme Preis gewann, darf sich Bjarne Mädel nun endlich auch als Tatortreiniger im ARD beweisen. Die makabere Komödie knüpft quasi da an wo ARD’s Tatort normalerweise aufhört: beim Aufräumen und Putzen des Tatorts. Heiko Schotte (Bjarne Mädel), auch Schotty genannt macht den Job bei dem sich andere Leute vor Entsetzen übergeben müssten, er ist bei der Spube (Spurenbeseitigung). Mal sehen wie sich Schotty im ARD durchsetzen wird, der Sendeplatz war gestern zumindest nicht schlecht: 21:45 direkt nach Sherlock.

Morgen startet ‘Our Idiot Brother’ in den Deutschen Kinos.

Raul Rudd spielt einen liebenswürdigen- eigentlich eher liebeswütigen- Bio Hippie, der sein Leben in absoluter Ehrlichkeit, Offenheit und Gutmütigkeit verbringt und dennoch immer wieder scheitert. Selbst im Gefängnis, in dem er aus gut gemeinter Naivität landet, erhält er den Preis als Häftling mit dem besten Benehmen und wird frühzeitig entlassen. Aus lauter Freude endlich seine Freundin Janet und Hund wiederzusehen, sein Leben neu zu beginnen, fährt er als erstes zu Janet’s Farm nur um feststellen zu müssen, dass sie nicht nur einen neuen Mann an ihrer Seite hat, sondern auch Ned’s geliebten Hund: Willie Nelson nicht mehr hergeben möchte.

Ohne einen anderen Ausweg surft Ned von Familienmitglied zu Familienmitglied und durchrüttelt das Leben seiner ehrgeizigen Schwestern Miranda, Natalie und Liz.   Während seine Schwestern immer mehr den Boden unter den Füßen verlieren, bleibt Ned seinem Ziel treu- endlich Willie Nelson zurück zu holen. Trotz der wenig überraschenden Handlung, ist es Ned’s Charme der einen bei Laune hält und irgendwie auch nicht ganz wegschauen lässt. Ned ist so gutmütig und positiv, dass ihm die spitzen Kommentare-und vor allem Handlungen- seines Schwager’s nicht einmal auffallen und er trotz dessen offensichtlichen Zynismus und Vertrauensbrüchen immer noch wahrhaftig höflich bleibt. Für ihn sind alle Menschen gleich gut, vertrauenswürdig und er hat stets ein offenes Ohr für die Problem anderer, auch wenn er diese möglicherweise sofort weiter plappert. Denn so ist er nunmal: offen, ehrlich, komisch-charmant.

Mein Fazit: ein süsser Film, perfekt um an einem verregneten Tag abzuschalten.
